Death Korps of Krieg: Centaur Light Assault Carrier

All aboard the mud wagon! It's been a while since I held a brush, and I have been itching to paint. Even though I was in the middle of making a display board, I decided to take a short break and tackle this little guy. The Centaur Light Assault Carrier is hands down my favourite vehicles from Forge World's Death Korps range, unfortunately it's been OOP for years, with no sign of re-release. So, I had to resort to to take the forbidden route: recast.

I'll admit that the quality was a pleasant surprise, even though most parts showed significant warping. Additionally, I had underestimated the amount of cleaning that needed to be done, so the assembly took longer than I had anticipated. Thankfully painting was more straightforward. I went for a classic military green theme, reminiscent of the Imperial Armour artworks. I figured this would contrast well with the dark grey-blue fatigues.

I had a great time weathering this little vehicle. I kept things simple with some light chipping and standard AFV techniques. Since it's getting difficult to find waterslide transfers (without buying a whole box, that is) I experimented with stencils for marking and numbering. I also tried out a lead white chalk pencil to make hand-written inscriptions and I'm really pleased with the results. I'll definitely be using it again on my next vehicle.
