Frontline Report #1 — Hell Is Mud

In today's post, I'm showcasing a trench-themed display board that I recently completed, while going over the main inspiration sources, design and materials used for the construction and detailing. Grab your shovel and let's start digging!

I recently started working on fulfilling a long-time dream of mine—making a trench-themed display board for my Death Korps models. They've been buried under my pile of shame for a while now, so it's about time I make up for it and give them a proper showcase. Since I don't have enough storage space for a large game table, I decided instead to focus on designing a series of individual square tiles that could fit into a display cabinet I own.

In this first edition of the Frontline Report, I'll discuss the general concept behind this first board which I recently completed. This article is not a tutorial, but rather a rambling account of my experience and process following the making of this diorama. I will briefly go over the main inspiration, design and materials used, which I hope will answer some of your questions, or inspire you to embark on a similar project to display your own miniatures.
